Fiery but feeling his years and his illness, the sick director Leonard Fife (Richard Gere) wants to tell his life story, not filtered, before it is too late. As director of the Lodato Exposés documentary, he has a lot of being proud of, but his avoidance of the draft of Vietnam and his past relationships host spiny truths. Finally, choosing to reveal the truth and lies in his life and career, Leonard sits for an extended filmed interview with his former student Malcolm (Michael Imperioli), loading candid stories about his youngest self (Jacob Elordi) in the fragment of the 60s and beyond. From Leonard’s insistence, his indispensable wife and partners, Emma (Uma Thurman), hears everything. Leonard’s successes are supported against his bankruptcies-Fibs have kept against the facts-e while the whole man is clean by the myth, Leonard has to face what remains.
